kathleen newman

My passion for seeing the beauty in everyday life allows me an opportunity to appreciate the natural environment and my place in it. As an artist, I am trying to experience and express this emotional response in my work and hopefully invoke a spark of recognition in the viewer as well.

Kathleen studied at Chicago’s American Academy of Art and the School of the Art Institute, and formed Queen of Arts Studios, Inc., a design/illustration business, before making a recent transition to fine art. Since then, she has been awarded the Master’s Circle Award by the International Association of Pastel Societies and signature status in the Pastel Society of America, American Society of Marine Artists and Transparent Watercolor Society of America. She is also a member of the historic Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Arts, Chicago Pastel Painters and Oil Painters of America. Noted awards: Best of Show, American Impressionist Society, Taos, NM 2005; International Artist, 2003; Pastel Artist International, 2002; Pastel Journal, 2001 and 2002; Artists Magazine, 2000 and 2003.
